Meet Wes Moore
A Great American
Westley Moore is an American politician, investment banker, small business owner, author, former CEO, Rhodes scholar and former television producer and since 2023, he has been the 63rd governor of Maryland. Moore was born in the great state of Maryland but raised largely in New York. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University and received a master’s degree from Wolfson College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar. After several years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, he became an investment banker in New York. Between 2010 and 2015, Moore published five books, becoming a New York Times Best Selling Author. He served as the very first CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation from 2017 to 2021. He also hosted Beyond Belief on the Oprah Winfrey Network, and was the executive producer and a writer for Coming Back with Wes Moore on PBS.
Wes is a person that believes despite your starting point in life, the abundance of opportunities or lack thereof should not determine your fate. The chance at an equal opportunity in order to succeed is something everyone deserves. For example, a job you can raise a family on, wages that reflect the dignity of work, and the chance to create wealth for you and your family.
Wes has led in sectors across the economy and understands how the economy works and knows how to increase economic opportunities through creating economic growth.
Wes’ drive to create inclusive economic growth is both personal and professional. He grew up in communities that were marginalized and watched his single mother struggle to pay the family’s bills each month. And as the CEO of one of the nation’s largest non-profit organizations exclusively focused on ending poverty and creating economic advancement, Wes spearheaded the creation of Mobility LABs, a $25 million initiative driving economic mobility in urban, rural, and suburban parts of the country, including millions of dollars here in Maryland. Additionally, he fought for the expansion of the Child Tax Credit by the Biden Administration. Wes’ drive to create change, his past accomplishments and impact is what makes him a great american. He embodies the spirit of a true leader, and we are excited to see how he continues to make a difference.
